Useless Machine!
This makes me quite happy, and is quite useless. Watch the video it will all make sense. I made this using just a box, modified servo, 2 switches, some wire, and batteries.

With all my coin-op machines that only take quarters, what do you do if you only have paper money? As many arcades have change machines, I decided why can’t I have one? I used a solenoid out of an old copier that I parted out, a Picaxe 08M, relay, bill validator, and some old phone warning signs that were given to me. So far I have about $50 in the project, that includes some wood, lock, and hinges for the box.
I would like to give a special thanks to Russell Fergusion for his help in point me in the direction of the Picaxe controller. He does alot of robotics and such and I’m sure I will be working on another project with him.

I got my road signs in yesterday and got them mounted today, I just used some angle brackets. There is a closeup of the mounting of the traffic light on the pole. I still need to get a red lens…
I got my street signs in today I need to mount them to the traffic light pole. I also ordered some latching relays off of ebay to make the pedestrian button be the on off button for the whole thing, I also ordered a push button to (cross street sign).

After getting my button and walk/dont walk sign I had to hook them up! But controllers are about $100 for what I wanted, what other options did I have? I could make one! And I did, with the help of Trevor and one of his class projects we constructed a traffic light controller. I will post more info and schematics up later, but for now some pics!
I got my pedestrian walk/’ walk sign in yesterday. I briefly hooked it up just to see it’s glory.
I plan on getting a pole and mounting my traffic light, the button, and this sign on it. I would also like to get 2 street signs made that say Rocky Rd, and Duncan Dr.
So I aquired a button recently, but not just any button. In fact it is a button for the pedestrians at a traffic light. The button was broken and had been replaced, this one was too damaged for TxDOT to fix. I just put a little hot glue on there along with a new microswitch that I had laying around. Anyway pics:
Anyway…I outgrew my old 5 shelf A/V rack and decided just to build one. This one features a nice ammeter to tell me how many amps the system using. There is a shunt for the meter located in a double gang box in the bottom of the unit along with a plug which I added a capicator for some surge protection/line conditioning. There is also a digital copier surge protector on the whole system as well as a generic home theater surge protector. There is also an isolation transformer for the DVD player. The 2 NES’s are connected to 2 seperate tv’s the one on the left is tied in with the rest of the entertainment, while the one on the right is just connected to a tv. The HTPC, DVD, XBOX, and PS2 run through S-video. Right now I only have composite ran to the tv but ive ordered some connectors so i can run S-video through the wall.
